When Anime arrived from Prima Equestrian in September 2005. she was 5 months old and on a special program from Brooks/KER Feeds.

We wanted to continue what the breeder had started, and luckily we found that the Embrun Coop was distributing the Brooks/KER products in our region and was represented by an equine nutrition specialist named Tania Laframboise. With Tania’s help we switched all of our horses to a Brooks/KER feed.

Tania visits often to follow our broodmares nutrition and particularly Anime’s development. At one year old, Anime is very tall for her age and is projected at over 17 hands at maturity. Because we have had problems in the past with OCD on a young horse we wanted Anime to get the very best we could give her.

Tania is always available to help us and to guide us and we have followed her recommendations exactly. In September of this year we decided to present Anime at the KWPN-NA Keuring in New Gloucester, Maine along with Zalanta, my sister’s 2 year old that is also on my farm. After I0 hours of driving in the mountains and narrow roads we arrived, stressed and tired on the eve of the presentation. I’m talking about us of course because the fillies seemed to be in very good shape.

The next day was a glorious day for us. The judge’s comments about Anime were nothing short of perfect. Very well developed, perfect shape, nice long sloping shoulder, long legged, excellent top line... and “First Premium” which means she has surpassed the breed standards. On top of that she was “Best young Horse”, which means she was the best of all the horses 2 years and younger of that Keuring. Zalanta also had her ”First Premium” for the 2 years olds.

The judges travel across Canada and the USA to judge more horses of the KWPN-NA in North America and
eventually present the final results for the Top Ten.

We were astonished at Anime’s results. She not only made the Top Ten, she came in FIRST! Zalanta also made the top ten and came in 3rd. At the Keuring I talked with the judge (who flew in from Holland for the Keurings) what he thought of Anime’s condition. His answer was “she is perfect, exactly what a yearling should look like, her weight and the quality of her coat are ideal.”

So congratulations and thank you Tania! If there were a ribbon for the condition they were in you would have won the “First Premium!”
