Russell McQuaid had no hesitation in expressing pride in his 8 year old gelding, “Grips Son” when asked. “Now that I’m retired, he’s my pride and joy and my fun” said the Port Perry area man.

Of particular pride is the fact that “Grips Son” is entirely homebred. “I had the mare (Over Yonder) and the stallion (Firm Grip) and this is the result,” said Mr. McQuaid.

“I feed him Brook’s Un-Ti, not for any particular problem, but simply because I heard that it was good feed and I’ve never been disappointed. He always seems to be in the money, always looks real good and trots real good.”
