Serious Comfort -
2003 O'Brien Award: 2 Year Old Pacing Filly of the Year
(p,2,1:523s, $707,452)
Established in 1979, Millar Farms started with a single horse on 10 acres of land. Now the farm spans 135 acres and is home to almost 80 horses and has produced champions such as Camystic (p,4,1:494s, $779,728), Serious Comfort (p,2,1:523s, $707,452), High on Emotion (p,5,1:521,$750,037) and Celestine Prophecy (p,3,1:51q, $423,249). “What makes our farm a little different than most” says George Millar Jr. “is that we are one of the few who breed our own horses, raise them, break them, train them and race them all from own facility. We deal with every stage of equine development on our farm and our goal throughout all of them is to give our horses everything they need to reach their highest genetic potential. We chose Brooks feeds because they understood this goal.”
Backed by the science of KER, Brooks was able to design optimum feeds for all the different groups of horses on the farm that complimented the nutritional value of the available forage. “One of the best services they have offered us is their Gro-Trac program. It allows us to watch which horses are gaining too much or to little weight and to regroup them in the paddocks or to change their feed as required” says Millar. "Since we have started working with Brooks we have seen a reduced rate of developmental orthopedic disorders in the babies, better overall appearance and musculature in the yearlings and the racehorses are in better looking condition than ever.
Everyone at Brooks takes a personal interest in what’s going on at the farm – they’re not just our feed suppliers, they’re part of our team!"
